Me!

Hellooo!

How lovely to meet you here.

So, a little bit about me, I’m Rachel, I live on the mostly sunny, often windy south coast of England. You’ll mostly find me outside, in my garden if that’s as far as I can get that day, or by a blue or green space further afield.

My superpower (what’s yours?) is that I notice things, particularly little things. This is especially true out in our wonderful wild world. I notice the patterns on leaves, the ripples on water, the lines on pebbles, and the way lichen actually looks like miniature seaweed. Going slowly means I noticed the snake on a path in the Ecrin, that my partner had just stepped over.

Those noticings then get squirreled away in my brain (and camera roll) and often end up being put onto paper with pencil, ink and paint (see my arty things on Instagram!)

But as I’ve also been turning those noticings into words in my head for years and attempting, but failing to turn them into long blog posts, I thought instead I’d go for little snacks of words about the things I notice and the thoughts I have about them. I’d like to encourage others to notice the little things, to slow down and let nature into their daily lives more.

I hope you enjoy them and it encourages you to go a little slower and to notice the little details all around you. Maybe you’ll end up with a photo roll full of nature like mine is!
